Vision
Meaningful education for all to build an egalitarian and just society on the path of sustainable development.
In the Library and Reading Initiative, we intend to foster a culture of reading among children and communities through children-led libraries.
Areas of Partnership
In collaboration between Eklavya Foundation and HT Parekh Foundation, the program aims to instil the habit of reading and curiosity among children and members of the community while also placing the “Agency of the Child” at the center.
The program has following segments:
-
Community Libraries: These are community owned library spaces run and managed by “Resource Children” and supported by the project team. The program currently has 76 community libraries run by 10 nodal centers.
-
Training: Conduct an introductory 3-month certificate course for library educators and school teachers to enhance their understanding of a library in order to promote methodologies pertinent for creating vibrant library centers.
-
Book Development: Eklavya has worked closely with Ayang Trust, Majuli, Assam and Bhabook, Kolkata to develop original and translated titles in Assamese, Mising, and Bengali.
