Doorbeen, (pronounced dūr-bīn), meaning “telescope” in Hindi, is an initiative by the H T Parekh Foundation aimed at transforming children’s lives through the magic of reading.
Inspired by how a telescope brings distant objects into focus, Doorbeen seeks to illuminate the vast potential within every child. Just as a telescope reveals hidden wonders, books unlock incredible worlds filled with ideas, fascinating people, far-off places, and limitless adventures. A great story can spark laughter, inspire dreams, and even shift perspectives.
At Doorbeen, we believe in the power of literature to open new possibilities for young minds. Our initiative, like its namesake, uncovers the hidden joy of reading, making children curious explorers and active readers. By fostering critical thinking, language development, and emotional growth, we transform reading into a journey of discovery.
Welcome to Doorbeen—where every story unveils a new world, and every child’s imagination leads the way!

Doorbeen, a flagship program supported by the H T Parekh Foundation, nurtures an ecosystem where NGO partners establish community and school libraries, produce regional children’s literature, and train library educators to help these libraries thrive.
The H T Parekh Foundation was established in 2012 to honor the birth centenary of Mr. Hasmukh Thakordas Parekh, Founder Chairman of HDFC Limited, and celebrates his legacy of deep commitment to India’s development sector. Guided by Mr. Parekh’s philosophy of “service to society,” the Foundation focuses on providing access to education for vulnerable children and adolescents, promoting equity, and improving learning outcomes.
Through Doorbeen, the Foundation seeks to foster critical thinking, language development, and socio-emotional growth in young minds. By ensuring access to quality education and enriching library environments, they aim to empower every child to reach their full potential.
